Dr. Manik Hiranandani graduated in medicine, from the Armed forces medical college in Pune, India in1980. This was followed by further training in Cardiology & Internal Medicine at Bombay University. During this time, he found that his medical training was not giving him the high success rates he desired in getting his patients to recover. He found he was dealing in crisisis and he decided that prevention of illness was really what should have been advised early to most of his patients. To improve his therapeutic skills he decided to explore the potential of Acupuncture and other systems of medicine. This exploration revealed that many of these so called "Alternative Techniques" were remarkably effective in curing some illnesses faster and more effectively than anything western medicine could offer. He realized that few illnesses had single causes, and that healing the body, mind, and soul required help from many sources. These methods also placed more emphasis on prevention of illness and maintenence of good health. Dr Hiranandani started exploring Acupuncture in 1982 as an alternative to conventional therapy for treatment of pain. His immediate and dramatic success encouraged him to explore acupuncture further. Over the years he became an authority on acupuncture and pioneered the use of Lasers & Ultrasound in Acupuncture. His book " Non invasive Acupuncture" published in 1989 was the first textbook on this subject. It became a standard text in acupuncture colleges all over the world. His book on acupuncture titled "Light and Needles" published in 1991, is a clear & coherent explanation of acupuncture & how it works. It is reproduced on this website as a free resource for anyone seeking information on acupuncture. Dr Hiranandani practised medicine & Acupuncture in Bombay between 1982 & 1991 treating hundreds of thousands of patients from all classes of society free or for nominal sums. He was a well known consumer activist promoting awareness about the harmful effects of drugs and was instrumental in having many dangerous drugs banned & taken off the Indian Market. He chaired the Medical Committee of the Consumer Guidance Society of India for 10 years and was one of the founders of ACASH (Association for Consumer Action for Safety & Health). In 1991 he was recruited as the Medical Director of the Vital Life Centre which soon grew under his guidance to be the largest private holistic health clinic in the world. In 1993 following a conversation with his Guru "Sri Adwayananda", he retired to his feet in the peaceful village of Malakkara to pursue the spiritual path. Dr Hiranandani is a superb diagnostician and is able to find and treat the causes of many complicated and chronic diseases. Dr Hiranandani's treatment approach is both scientific and logical. It is based on finding out why each particular individual has his unique problems. He takes into consideration the many factors which contribute to your health and disease. These include genetic predispositions, the effects of injuries both old and recent, the weak areas in your constitution and factors which you can change like your diet, environment and lifestyle. This is truly a holistic evaluation of your health. A treatment program is then worked out to tackle the causes of each problem in the most effective fashion. You are made aware of the causes of your problems, and advised how you can best help yourself achieve good health. You are also advised how to maintain that health and happiness in the years to come. He believes that a word to the wise is often enough. During his consultations, he advises you how best you can improve your life & health and then leaves it to you to implement the changes he recommends. The better the compliance with his instructions, the greater the improvement in your health. He advises a yearly review of your health to follow up and re-assess your health & direction. He has a strong spiritual background, enabling him to understand problems at many levels and so assist in the healing of body, mind and soul. Dr. Hiranandani presently lives in Kerala in South India with his wife and three children where he runs a medical clinic. This Clinic treats patients from all over the world whose complicated disorders need hands-on care. Patients suffering from many supposedly incurable problems travel to the peaceful village of Malakkara to seek an answer to their problems and be initiated to a new and healthy life.
